I upcycled this vintage style table in to a shabby chic make up table top stand for my beauty mirror.

I found this little wooden table for £1 on ebay. Admittedly, I was surprised how small it was. But decided it would be great on my dressing table.

It was originally dark brown and glossed, painted and shabby chiced.

First I keyed the whole piece with sandpaper. If I were using proper chalk paint, I would have skipped this.

I then used primer and left to dry.

Then I painted with any colour matt emulsion paint (wall paint) I wanted and left to dry again. You could add two coats if you wish.

Then used a clear wax to seal the paint work. Here I'm using Lord Sheraton's as it's much cheaper than Annie Sloan and can be picked up in many supermarkets.

Now I'm dark waxing it to give it an aged look using Annie Sloan with a lint free cloth. The cloth is almost always an old shirt.

I then sanded the edges back to the original wood. Note, however, you may want to dark wax again as it will show brighter paint.
