My husband painted the toilet gold. For some reason he has always had a fantasy about owning a gold toilet. Why? Because he's weird. While my daughter and I were out of town in California last week he decided to give the toilet the Midas touch. I've decided to call it "Trump Toilet" Here are the instructions on how to gild your toilet and make yourself a solid gold throne fit for a king. All you need is sandpaper, waterproof primer and gold spray paint. Crown optional.
This is the toilet before. Make sure you sand down the porcelain with 60 grit sandpaper and that all the shine has been removed.
Tape off the handle and put up a drop cloth or barrier around the toilet to protect from over spray.
Shut off the water and make sure the tank and bowl are completely empty. Dry everything and paint on waterproof primer.
One the primer is dry spray two- coats of gold Rustoleum spray paint letting it dry completely in between coats.
Onece you have the coverage you desire let it dry and spray a top coat in the bowl for extra protection. Turn the water back on and enjoy your new throne!
Suggested materials:

Do you ever have any issues with the paint coming off on your skin or clothes when using the toilet?

I LOVE It!! I'm always up for new ideas and it's hard to keep the white toilet clean around the bottom unless you clean it everyday ...I'd love to do this ! For a Queen of course lol

So! Can I tell you 2 things: this looks F'ing AMAZING; and, your husband is a keeper for his "prep-game" alone!!!! I've been seeking a really good toilet painting example and this is it. A White toilet is no longer fits the décor in my bathrooms. And, have you priced a non-white toilet lately? Ridiculously high! Needless to say, I'm going for the spray paint. ...ASAP! Also, I'm also a stickler for the 1st part of any job: the prep. It's a complete job in an of itself. From my view, your husband is a pro-prepper. Thanks for sharing this. :)
