I’ve been wanting to update my powder room ever since we moved in. There are still things that I would like to do but after a quick DIY weekend update, I am pretty satisfied with how it looks now.

Here’s the before…

First I painted it and for the hard to reach areas this flexible mini roller was awesome. I’ll add a video to show how it gets into hard to reach areas.

Here is the video of the mini flexible roller. I was rolling with one hand and the camera in the other so it was hard to show the behind the toilet rolling.

One of the biggest easiest changes was swapping the dated oval mirror for a new modern one. I used Monkey Hooks to hang it and the masking tape trick to figure out the spacing between the hooks.

You just put a piece of masking tape on the item that you want hang, draw in the little triangle shapes. Then put it on your wall using a level to make sure it is straight and then you know where to place your Monkey Hooks.

So at this point I had new paint going up, new mirror and new shelf and the shiny brass light fixture just didn’t go.

I had seen Rub and Buff all over and decided to try that. I took off the toilet paper holder and the hand towel holder because they were easy to remove. I did the light fixture and faucet by taping them off with masking tape.

I just put some on my gloves finger and applied it and waited them buffed it until it looked like I wanted it to. Several times I buffed too much off and had to reapply it.

It is a quick update.

It has several colors too.

So if antique brass isn’t your style they have several other colors. Silver, gold and ebony to name a few.

The masking tape worked well.

And after… I still need to get a tiny paint brush for behind the faucet. It is a really tight space.

Wow! That is shiny.

And after…

I tried to do the fancy faucet press but ummm no, didn’t look fancy to me! icon

And here it is all done.

I really like it and it was a very quick makeover.

So have you ever tried Rub N Buff?

Did you build the shelf as well? It’s beautiful. Any instructions for it! Great makeover!

Thanks, Stacy! I think I might try to make the shelf! After all, how difficult could it be?! 😀
