Can I remove the plate under my bathroom faucet?
The plate under the faucet is totally rotting and I'd like to put the nice faucets directly onto my sink maybe using a gasket. Will these pieces come apart ?

It depends if they are 8" spread or 4" spread. Usually only the 8" spread comes without the plate.

There are a few factors to consider here, mainly why the plate is rotting out. Check for leaks, your fixture could be a problem in general. They're cheap enough to replace.
