I have a bidet in a small bathroom that has floor to ceiling tiles. Is it possible to remove the bidet and turn it into a curbless shower stall area?

  • You would have to change/add some plumbing, but it is possible.

Yes, just about any remodel of a bathroom is possible depending on how much money you want to spend.

One of the biggest hurdles will be to ensure that the floor slopes down towards the (new) drain. This will likely require removal of some of the floor tiles and building of a shower pan with new tiles the right height.

Another dilemna will be to determine whether you want shower walls to be built from tiles or to consist of glass panels. If the latter, they will have to be anchored to existing walls and to the floor.

Ann and Flipturn are correct. Plumbing would need to be changed/replaced/added/modified. Bidet is basically a toilet with a spray attachment. The drain is 3" to 4". Shower drain is 1 1/2" with a P trap.

Hello that would be an exciting change. Almost anything to be accomplished with a a good contractor and budget.

you couldn't use the same plumbing you would have to change it out - get free estimates to see what is involved on doing this project before you decide

The drain on a bidet is likely not large enough to accommodate the required drain for a shower. You will need the floor to be sloped down to the new drain in the new shower, also.

You would have to put a shower pan in the area and change the plumbint. Also is the area large enough to make a shower? You would need to ask a contractor to see if that is possible.

Yes, but this is a lot of work.

Code says the minimum shower pan size is 30" square. So you'll have to determine how to get a toilet drain to work with a shower drain flange, in a very small vertical space.

You may have to build a platform for the shower pan to get the necessary plumbing in there.

The waterproof wall finish must be 72" AFF min.

The shower head should be 60" AFF min.

Your existing hot & cold water supplies at 12" AFF are not going to mix the water on their own, let alone provide the mandated anti-scald mechanism inside shower faucet sets.

So you'll not only be moving the plumbing to about 42" AFF, but also you should be moving the shut-OFF valves, so their access panel is from the back side of that wall.

Im sure you can since you have most of the plumbing in place. You will need to add a hot water line and do some additional tile work...

Good day to you. Of course. You can replace any plumbing in the bathroom. It is. However, it's worth considering that replacing/repairing plumbing can make a big price difference. In addition, to install the shower, you will need to do some minor repairs to the place where it is installed - for example, various tile or plasterwork. In general, this part of the task is not cheap either. Especially if you have not done this kind of work, in that case, you will definitely have to call in specialists. However, the bidet is a very healthy thing. You can look at the electric toilet seat. It is compact and installed directly on the toilet and works almost like the ordinary bidet. In any case, if you would like to know more about it, go to -zabranio. There you can learn about buying, installing, or removing a bidet.

Hmm, I think it's quite possible. If you know how to use your hands properly and think with your head, then you will definitely succeed. The most important thing before buying is to think over how to do everything and calculate all the sizes. It is very important not to rush in such a case and double-check everything 1000 times. I hope you succeed. It would be interesting to see what it looks like. Personally, I would not test such an idea. I would ask the masters to do it for me, lol. My friend works in zabranio.com I would at least ask him to help me. Although I probably wouldn't buy a sink instead of a bidet.

I have also thought about changes in my bathroom but be careful because moving plumbing can be expensive and there is always the possiblity of running into unexpected problems.

You can have a plumber come out and walk you thru what you would need to do but they don't do that for free. Water can cause a lot of damge so I would call a pro to at least look at this and let you know what this will cost and if it is even possible.
