Here are some clever hacks:

Look to the walls and ceiling. A shelf above the door is great for extra toilet paper. Hanging baskets that are typically used in the kitchen work well for wash rags and hand towels. Hang a tension shower rod inside of shower to hang plastic or metal baskets to hold shampoo and the like. A spice rack organizer that looks like steps for under the sink helps organize bottles. Over the door hangers for towel rack.
Keep in mind the when re-doing the floor & tile walls, USE LARGE TILES! It is an optical illusion & the bathroom appears to be much larger.
Monochromatic color is also a good idea. Looks less cluttered, therefore more spacious.
how small is small? right now we are redoing our front bath. I posted the bathroom awhile back of what it looked like, I am going to repost what we did! We have a large mirror that all we did was paint the surround, paint the walls and put up some new prints. change out the window treatment and put in a shower curtain where we had doors before. Mostly it was just dated! We didn't change the flooring, counter top, yet, or cabinets. and we kept the hardware. We probably still spent around $150.00 so far. Do you have adequate storage? that is one place that you can get creative. look for different types of lighting, you can't change the footprint of the bathroom unless you want to do a total gut, but simple changes make a big difference! even just changing out your outlets and painting the walls a different color will make a huge difference every time that you go into the room!
