I have a bathroom that needs to be gutted with new pipes and update to the electrical wiring. Need mold free/resistance walls, an exhaust fan and all new fixtures.

If you have a Reuse Center in your area you could get fixtures vaniety mirrors lights inexpensivly. And if needed refinish or spray paint fixtures . Then purchase NEW plumbing and electrical. Bathroom remodels are not cheap but worth the time and investment. See if you can barter for Labor costs and assist with job to keep costs in check

Hi Rachel. The new piping and electrical will not be inexpensive. Consider pex piping which is easier for plumbers to use and cheaper. It can be married with older pipes. As for the electrical, it is what it is. Just bite the bullet and have it done by a certified electrician. As for the fixtures and walls: use green board for your walls, research on-line for resale items. Buy a new water efficient toilet. And do the gut job yourself. It will cut down on the cost.

    Rachel,

There is a type of push-to-connect pipe connectors called "SharkBite". The individual pieces are a little on the expensive side, but far cheaper than a plumber. I recently used them for the first time and they are very easy to work with if you want to tackle the plumbing yourself. The electrical you can do yourself as well if you have worked with it before. If not, an electrician would be worth spending money on.
