How can I make over my light brown tub/shower surround?

I have a light brown acrylic or fiberglass tub/shower surround. Any ideas to improve the look?

Hey Karen! If you want to update the brown, Ive heard lots of success stories from tub refinishing kits. You paint it on, and it looks like a fresh new white tub and surround.

We tried the refinishing kit. It actually started to chip off. We found that replacing the surround was quick and easier than thought it would be. Watch a few youtube videos before you do it. They are the most helpful. When it comes to making holes for the handles and such, make them just a little larger than the pieces protruding from the wall. you can use your old surround as a template where to put the holes for the new one. If you have a problem getting the old one off, use a hairblower on high. It will heat the adhesive on the back and come off easier.
The RustOleum kit has held up well (2 years) for my kids. It's a garden time that went from harvest gold to white.
