How can I paint this bathroom door?
Here's a picture of our bathroom door from the inside. The door is very lightweight and as you can see, disgusting. We are renting so we don't want to invest anything, but it is bothering me. Is there a budget way I can paint it (assume we have permission)? What would I use for a bathroom door? Thank you!

Remove hinges, n door knob, wipe it down, sand it gently, wipe dust off with dry rag then with slightly wet rag go over it again, repeat if necessary,... let dry completely... use an interior paint(obviously lol) use roller for bucket paint... or could use spray paint with even coats. I would consider a paint that protects against mildew n moisture, letting each coat dry thoroughly! Replace knob n hinges! Good luck!!
use same color enamel paint
If you take the door off to paint it you can use a tension rod in your doorway with a curtain panel for a few days while you work on your door.
Do NOT remove any hardware from the door or take the door off the hinges (massive headache getting it all back in and together). 1. Clean the entire door with a TSP mixture (follow the directions, to the letter-keep pets and children away from the product and area when in use). Take the time to prep the door (this part will take the longest to accomplish-any one can simply paint). Purchase dry mix putty (inexpensive) and a small putty knife from a home improvement store; initially fill damaged areas with putty, dry/light sanding/refill/dry...repeat until satisfied with the result. Prime all area of door you plan to paint (Small can of Zinsser 123 should be perfect). Do NOT paint any area of the door that you have not primed (it will peel off). Paint door with decent quality paint/allow to cure between coats/ two coat to finish.
That looks like mold or mildew to me. I can see it on the baseboards also. If it is and you just paint over it then it will come back through the paint.

just get a can of Zinsser or Kilz primer/stain blocker and use it as the paint it I would not even bother with fixing door at all you can paint it right where it is hanging just so no one touches paint for about 20-30 minutes til dry. I'd get enuf to paint over the whole bathroom.just wipe it down enuf with some hot water and bleach first then let it dry then wipe down areas that have mold with straight vinegar it will kill the mold let it dry well before you use the primer. this is cheapest way to make it habitable since it is rental and landlord won't take care of it. make him reimburse you for paint probably need 1-2 gallons depending on size and maybe 2 coats. it's nice bright white and easy to wipe/clean. I've lived in some real dumps all I could afford at the time the Kilz or Zinsser primer was my life safer so I at least didn't feel grossed out by my surroundings.
I would be tempted to try a Mr. Clean Eraser first. Or Fantastik spray cleaner with bleach may work. Easy peasy if it works...if not paint like everyone mentioned.
How about trying Mr. Clean Eraser first. Or Fantastik with bleach is terrific for cleaning. If that does not work, then painting is your next option.
