How can I resurface a marble bathroom counter and sink?

I have a counter with an integrated sink. The former owners used sandpaper or something to clean the sink that deeply scratched the surface. I have a very limited budget. Any help would be appreciated.

Look at a Habitat restore or building surplus stores, it's probably a common size, just replace. Everything thing else you do will be temporary anyway.

  Thank you, Kelli. Our counter is an odd shape with what is called a banjo section over the toilet. Haven't found anything that will work so far, but I'll keep looking.

  Oh gosh, yes that would be tough. You could always elect to not get that shape over the toilet and just add a shelf instead

You can install a standard vanity top just won't have the extension over the toilet. 70"s style, a way to add a shelf over the toilet tank.
