Maximize space above our bath?
Want to maximize the space we use around our bath tub. To the right is behind the shower but was thinking to put a shelf on the left side where the ocean pic is. Shelf ideas to maximize our space?

Some ideas in here, keep in mind how wet the shelf will be from the shower, that will also give you an idea of what material to make it out of or buy.

Hi Lisa, you might be able to find some narrow & shallow, oblong wire baskets to mount on the wall opposite your ocean art piece, so items would be contained so they wouldn't fall into the tub but available. A shelving unit right next to the art could work well, especially if you chse an open shelving type unit so as not to close in the space and block the visibility of the art.
you could put open shelves that bolt to the wall like the ones that have pipes and wood on them

I love Pottery Barn's wall shelves, but some are a little pricey. We have one over our toilet, but they have a variety for different needs: https://www.potterybarn.com/shop/bath/bath-wall-shelves/?cm_type=gnav

Yes as long as it won’t get in the way of getting out of the tub
You could put glass shelfs over the window that would look nice to
I would do recessed niche shelves,,,,, you can buy pre-made inserts or build you own... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yhn-rHeTgKY

Check where your studs are. You may be able to inset some shallow shelves between the framing. Perfect for small bottles etc.
Make sure that any shelf you install can let water drain.
You can put shelves in front of the window. Just bring them out far enough (about an inch) to be able to open and close the blinds. I've done it, never had a problem.
Open shelves would be so nice!
Open or floating shelves but I feel like window needs somn else, looks way 2 bare even picturing shelves there
Don’t forget about above doors and windows. Add a shelf with baskets for storage.
I dont understand your question
Do you use the window, as in do you open the blinds ever or open the window? If not, you could get super edgy creative and put a couple u-shaped shelves in there, go from one wall, over the window, then across the next wall. Dress the window shelves with plants and you won't need blinds.
What is your goal in trying to maximize the space?
Do you want to make the wall space around the tub more efficient to store extra bathroom supplies, or to put decorative items on display?
If the tub has become mainly a place for storing bathroom items, I am concluding then that it is not used much as a place to take baths. I would guess that you mainly or exclusively use the shower.
My suggestion to maximize the presently under-used space that the tub is taking up, is to remove it completely. Use a reciprocating saw to cut it apart and in about an hour, the white elephant will be gone. You will then have the space equivalent of a small room to install closed cupboards with efficient sized shelves custom designed to accommodate all the stuff you want to store inside.
