How to change vessel sink faucet?

i bought a vessel sink, a faucet and a granite top for my bathroom. i bought it from a person that was redoing their bathroom. i want a different faucet. my problem is the hole that is drilled in the granite is an 1 1/4". all the faucets i look at on line dont tell me the size of the part that goes in the hole. all they say is u.s. standard size. what does that mean

Go to HD or Lowes and look for vessel sink faucets. They are slightly different from regular faucets.
And that is exactly why I never purchase on line . . .
If you're going to buy it online, make sure they have an ironclad return policy in case it doesn't fit. Size standards vary depending on what country you live in so if it's made elsewhere it may not fit.
You need to visit a better plumbers' supply store where you should find hundreds (at least) of choices and catalogues with very specific dimensions.
