We want to remodel and enlarge our bathroom.

We have a walk in closet next to the bathroom. We want to knock that wall down. Put in a large walk in shower with a seat. Add a double sinked vanity and new tiled floor and plaster walls. Should we attempt this ourselves or hire someone. My husband updated our powder room and did tile the backsplash in the kitchen. He has done small projects thru the years, but now he is retired.

This is a major project that will greatly enhance the value of your home, but will not be inexpensive anyway you approach it. You can save money by doing some of the work yourself, but it will require having all the necessary tools, and the experience in knowing how to use them properly. It may also lengthen the duration of the project.

Speaking from experience, the hardest part besides the cost, will be trying to live in the space while these renovations are underway. You will be without water and electricity for long periods of time, and also without a functioning bathroom. Do you have another bathroom in the house?
