What are some options to replace the tub surround, but not with tile?

We have something that looks like tile-board but it's not tile. It's a solid smooth piece that goes up like Sheetrock except it's treated with a glossy finish specifically for tubs. One for each end & 2 in the center. Caulk around the tub like normal.

I have the same issue with a shower surround and I have been looking at Alicante Tile Board, also DPI AquaTile 4'x8' available at most home improvement stores, I saw the ones Im interested in at Menards.

Check out fiberglass reinforced panels, also known as FRP. I used it to repair my shower. It's cheap.

Someone must be looking in my upcoming project list. ☺ My girlfriend has a nice soaker tub but the surround is old and cracked. I'm planning on using the for mentioned shower board with a nice pattern. I'm applying it length wise with only the 4 ft. section facing the ceiling. Above this I'm going to apply 12" x 12" glass tile sheets. I'm going to use complimenting colors and apply the tile to the ceiling and one section on the outside next to the wall on the ceiling. The final colors are hers to choose, but I visualize it with brown/green board, blue green tile and a soft yellow ceiling. It's kind of a meadow pool effect.
