In our bedroom we have a 6-drawer dresser, a 6-shelf 4-drawer armoire and then a large walk in closet. My husband and I equally split drawers and shelves in the dresser and armoire, and we have equal sides in the closet.

What I noticed, is that I spend a majority of my time in the closet when getting ready, and that a lot of the clothes I wore frequently, were outside of the closet, in the dresser or armoire. I’m all about convenience, so I decided to re-think my closet and the way I store my clothes.

A majority of what I wear when I’m not working is athletic wear (leggings, tanks, shorts, etc…) so I decided the major change up would be moving all of my athletic wear into the closet. I also noticed there was a corner shelf in my closet that was a wasted space, so I decided that I’d make it useful.

*Disclaimer*

This is not some expensive amazing overhaul on our closet. This was more about convenience and functionality. The space is organized and looks good to the eye, but it is also very functional for what I need.

Armoire:

Jeans

Shorts

Sweaters

Scarves/ Casual Pants

Tactical Pants

These are items I wear the least. I hate to say but I’m just not much of a jeans girl anymore. Athletic wear has become so acceptable and cute as every day clothing, that jeans really take a back seat. Sweaters used to be my go-to, but Texas weather doesn’t allow for sweaters too often during the year.

Dresser:

Underwear/ Athletic Socks/ Regular Socks (not shown)

Socks/ Bras (not shown)

The dresser didn’t need much rearranging, as I’ve always kept these items in these drawers, I just bought  organizers to keep each of the items neatly in the drawers.

Middle Shelf

This is where I maximized corner storage. The far left side of this shelf never got used and was hidden. I bought three mesh stackable bins and was able to use them for work under shirts, work underwear and work socks (yes I use different under garments for work).

(3)  Silver Mesh Stackable Bins- Medium

(2)  elfa Mesh Drawers inserts for pajamas and baseball hats

This project took me less than a day and cost me less than $100. I probably could have even brought the cost down even more by purchasing everything on Amazon however some things I decided on in the moment and I liked seeing them in the store.

Closets and dressers don't have to be super clean and organized all the time. I personally know that cubbies and drawers usually get the messiest, so I don't stress over those. I throw my socks in a drawer organizer and there's no need for further organization. They are where they should be and don't have to be neatly folded.

I'm all about things looking neat and clean but still being about convenience, and it is possible to achieve both!
