I wanted to give my daughter an amazing "tween" bedroom. However, as a single mother, it really wasn't in my budget. Her bedroom furniture was a mess of mismatched thrift store/hand me down/side of the road finds, that had no ryhme or reason to them. I wanted to change that. So I did just that!
I started by scouring every thrift store I came across for fabric (curtains/sheets/table cloths) that I could use in the design, as well as picture frames and other decor I could repurpose. I also hit up local hardware stores (Ace/Lowes/Home Depot) for mistinted paint.
I found a gallon of light gray paint at a great deal and purchased quarts of sample paint at $5/quart to match some existing left over paint I already had in the garage. And used my member reward points to purchase some chalkboard paint and supplies. Once the walls were painted, I went to work on her furniture, pulling everything out into the garage to be sanded and primed. This was no easy task doing it alone (I recommend some help with the heavy lifting, your back will thank you). I then ordered 4 sets of curtains on Amazon at $3 a set. I couldn't believe my good luck! I also pulled out some old Christmas lights from the garage. Along with some decor my mother had saved from my childhood bedroom. This was starting to come together quite nicely! I then stopped at Hobby Lobby to dig through the clearance bins for anything "diva like" ( always print their in store coupons before you go in, they work on clearance items and are almost always 40% off). There are too many pictures to post, so I've included some highlights below.

New curtains (windows)
Custom made canopy with sheer curtains, old Christmas lights and tacks.
Refinished bed frame.
Repainted light switch covers.
Custom made wall decor.
Replaced closet doors with old curtain rod (repainted) and new curtains that match the window.
I am very proud of the bedroom I created for my daughter. I hope you enjoy!!!

Sanded. Primed. Painted. Top 4 drawers removed along with the tracks. Put fold out boxes in place. Repainted handles. Picture frame from my childhood. Candle holder I dipped in pink paint.

I used a pair of my old heels as a book end for her books. Lol.

Used chalkboard paint on the top and then added peel and stick wall decal lettering. Used my old work high heel tape dispenser to jazz it up.

Sanded. Primed. Painted. Reupholstered the top with a wrap/throw/scarf I've had laying around for years.

The look of pure excitement!!!! She was so happy she literally cried!
