Old Dresser to Vanity

When we bought our 1928 farmhouse, we knew that it was going to take a ton of work to make it ours. The poor thing had been so neglected. But, being the "Wren-O-vator" , I knew we could do it. Not only do it, but do it on a budget and with a great eclectic twist!
Driveway dresser and a salvaged sink.
We found a $20 dresser listed on Craigslist and made a stop at our favorite salvage yard for a $15 sink.
Making the first cut.
The first cut was the hardest! We removed the drawers and, using a jig saw, we cut away a portion of the back to make room for the plumbing.
Vanity top sanded and ready for stain.
I loved the chippy look of the dresser, but decided that a nice smooth sealed top would be best since is was going in the bathroom. After sanding the top, we used the sink as a template and then cut the hole slightly smaller.
Stained and sealed and ready for the sink.
A few coats of stain with sealer and the top was beautiful.
"U" shaped drawer modification.
Storage is short in our home, so we modified the drawers into a "U" shape so we had room for the pipes but didn't lose the use of the drawers.
Finished and beautiful!
A bead of calk to secure the sink, new faucets and suddenly a pile of salvage becomes one of my most favorite things in our house!

I love what you did with the dresser-turned-vanity! A number of years ago I did something similar, but used the top hutch of the dresser, and now after seeing what you did, I wish I could get the old dresser back. ) Details of the hutch-turned lighted makeup mirror with shelves with photo below.

Oh wow Joyce! That looks awesome. I wish I had thought about using the top hutch. Took me forever to find a mirror that would work.
