Chalk Paint Dresser Makeover

I am IN LOVE with this project! It was a fair amount of work (stripping paint), but in the end it was well worth it.
The dresser started out like this. It had been painted twice and the black paint was chipping in spots, exposing the oil-based white below it in a not very pretty way. It all had to go!
I don't like using harsh chemicals and was dreading using paint-stripper, but this citrus-based one made it feel a little safer.
I applied the stripper and not-so-patiently waited for it to bubble. I started scraping too soon, and my hubby had to tell me to WALK AWAY. I did and eventually (after a couple hours probably) had much better luck scraping the paint off.
The white layer held on a little tighter, so I had to reapply the stripper several times, let it sit, and scrape again.
For me the sides were the hardest because I couldn't put my weight into the scraper like I could the drawer fronts and top of the dresser. My hubby helped with the more stubborn areas.
I went back-and-forth on the color and how much wood to leave exposed. This truck photo was taken at our family farm and I love it, so I used the green color as my inspiration for the dresser.
I chose Country Chic Paint in Rustic Charm (even the name is fun!). It's a beautiful green and with two coats on the dresser (and leaving the top and drawer fronts wood), I still have a lot left for other projects!
We used a dark walnut stain for the exposed wood, and I used Annie Sloan Dark Wax on the painted areas and Annie Sloan Clear Wax on the entire dresser to protect it. (A clear coat went on before the dark on the painted areas as well.)
After it was finished I got accessories back on the wall and on the dresser. I'm so glad to finally have this done (it had been in the project queue quite a while!). I enjoy it so much not only for the decorative aspect but also as a functional piece for storage in our living room/entryway!
