1 Material
I found this Dresser and mirror in the trash. I brake for all discarded furniture šŸ˜‰
Dresser as found
All I had to do was wipe it down with alcohol.
Mirror
Obviously, this was used in a child's room.
Mirror on dresser
The mirror was simple to clean. I just sprayed windex and let it sit several minutes - everything just wiped away.
Done with cleaning
I gave the top of the dresser a sanding as it had a heavy finish.
Sanded the drawers a tad and painted it in Silver Lining Chalk Paint - 2 coats.
Transferred an image
I used an enlarged LASER JET image ( I had it mirrored and printed at a local print shop ) I transferred it using the Mod Podge Method ( search for this method on internet ) I carefully took my time removing all the paper.
All paper removed
I then dry brushed the dresser in two more shades of chalk paint, Mineral and Pure White. A coat of dark liquid wax was applied. I had to go over the image, by hand with red ink - detail was too small to use paint pen or brush. I used a SPRAY POLYURETHANE to seal the ink to make sure it will not smudge off. If you try to rub wax over ink it will smear.
Drawer Pulls
The dresser was missing a drawer pull when found. I did not care for original pulls so I found some I liked.
Finished
I will attempt a quick, thin coat of dark liquid wax in a few weeks. I want the sealer to cure for a while BEFORE I try to buff the wax.
Suggested materials:
  • 3 shades of chalk paint, spray polyurethane, dark liquid wax, laser jet image.
