my husband found this on the side of the road for me several months ago. It was a cute piece with potential but covered in thick and I mean thick black latex paint. This stuff wouldnt budge after a coat of citristrip under plastic trash bags I'd scrape and scrape . I put more citristrip on it and covered her back up and moved it to the corner of my barn. I didnt know what I wanted to do with it except kick it lol. Finally pulled it back out and said I'm gonna make it look better. I have to.
its missing a door and the drawer backs were off and just sitting there with no slide to guide them.
here it is sitting under trash bags so the stripper will work faster. It sat and sat because I began to get so frustrated with it.
sitting some more
Making progress slowly, after finally getting the thick black grungy black paint off I wiped her with mineral spirits and let it dry. I took out the sander and went to work. It was alot of work. I was wanting to put a shutter door on her and leave the drawers. but this is how she sits now. I don't know if I'm happy with the outcome or not. I picked out a sample of behr in olive green and just went ahead and painted it. We cut old fencing and I stained those with miniwax special walnut color stain.
We measured and cut all the boards for shelves.
i used a piece of fence that had a hole in it in case someone wants to use as a tv stand and run a cord or two back there.
she needs touching up in some areas but I was distracted off and on with this one due to hurricane Harvey I didn't notice until after the photos were taken. I used special walnut colored stain on the old fencing.
Suggested materials:
