Easy
Ikea Hack Tarva Dresser with overlays, new knobs and a stained pine topper.
I purchased the unfinished 3-Drawer Tarva dresser from Ikea and to cover the knots in the wood I used Zinsser BIN Shellac-Based Primer. I applied two lights coats with a light sanding in between each coat (using 320 grit sandpaper). Next applied two coats of Sherwin Williams Grayish paint in a satin finish.
Unfinished Pine Tarva Dresser
The biggest purchase for the dresser was the overlays, which I absolutely love what they add to the dresser. They were purchased from the company O'verlays in the Pippa Tarva 2 style. I applied a thin coat of white spray paint to them and adhered to the dresser using liquid nails.
A pine top was purchased from the hardware store and after sanding it down, applied first a stain conditioner and then two coats of stain.
The top was adhered to the dresser using a nail gun.

Marj MRC Creations on Feb 11, 2015I love the transformation! I will have to keep this idea for one of my own Ikea dressers that I'd like to change. Beautiful job!

Wonderful job. The new top looks great, you have a good eye for proportion. :-)
