Painting Particle Board Furniture With Chalk Paint

I'll admit that I'm partial to vintage wood furniture. But if you have a solid piece of particle board furniture that needs a little love, you can update the look easily with chalk paint.
I purchased this 4-drawer chest from a local thrift store. The piece itself was solid, but the painted finish was worn and torn. One drawer handle was missing.
The color scheme I chose was Emperor's Silk, Graphite, and Old White (Annie Sloan Chalk Paint products). I purchased new knobs to coordinate with the new color scheme.
I painted the base in Emperor's Silk and gave it a light wash with Graphite. The drawers were painted in Old White and then the entire piece was finished with a clear wax.
I chose not to sand the paint. Instead I left some subtle brush strokes to give the finish some added dimension.
Even though there is a subtle texture to the paint, once the wax was applied it has a lovely smooth finish. What I especially like about this piece is its versatility. It would work well at the foot of a bed, as a window seat, or in an entryway or mudroom.
