How To Make a Bed Fluffy On a Budget

Make your bed feel luxurious, fluffy, & high end all on a budget

Is there anything better than trust falling onto a fluffy bed after an impossibly long day, I think NOT!

Creating a cloud like bed has always been a priority for me when it comes to bedroom must haves.

We do spend like a third of our life in it (unless you have a toddler 😉) so it should be something dreams are made of!

So I thought I would share my 7 favorite ways to make your bed nice & fluffy on a budget.

7 Ways To Make a Bed Fluffy On a Budget:

1. Mattress Topper

Start with a nice thick mattress topper to give your mattress another layer of fluff.

You can find nice thick ones at any price range just be careful to read the reviews.

I love a mattress topper with a cooling feature because we are hot sleepers & this ones my favorite!

If you are feeling a mattress topper splurge coming on here is one that has amazing reviews!

2. Sheets

Next I like to add a cozy fitted & top sheet.

I didn’t realize until recently that not everyone uses a top sheet!

The extra layer between the comforter makes the bed feel even cozier & oddly keeps my cooler.

Sheet set prices range from too cheap to crazy expensive so I always have a hard time making a decision.

I always try & to stay with either 100% cotton (ahem really really hot sleeper here or bamboo.

Throw sheet count to the wind & go with whatever feels good to you or read the reviews if shopping online.

This set is one of my favorites, its budget friendly & affordable!

Or these have amazing reviews if your looking to treat yourself.

3. Layered Duvets

One of the best ways to make a bed feel extra fluffy is a big comfy duvet!

Have you priced one of those suckers though?

This one is obviously amazing but if you need a more budget friendly option I have the answer for you!

Layering two duvets on top of each-other & stuffing them into a cover will bring the beds fluffiness level up x1000!

To make the bed look even fuller pull back the duvet & fold it on top of itself to make it look even fuller!

4. Sleep Pillows

For our actual sleep pillows we have 2 a piece.

Our bed is a king so we use king pillows, whatever size pillows you have make sure to get the right sized cases.

To big of cases can make the bed look underwhelming & too small will allow the pillow to stick out & not look super amazing.

When making our bed in the mornings I lay our sleep pillows down & stack two on top of each other to create a more full look.

If your pillows are lacking general fluffiness throw them in the dryer for 20 minutes with a tennis ball to poof them right up!

5. Euro Pillows

In front of the sleep pillows I place 3 28×28 Euro pillows.

The white pillow covers are a size smaller than the actual pillows to make them look nice & full.

The amount of Euro pillows you need depends on the bed size:

6. Throw Pillows

Adding throw pillows is a great way to add dimension & make the bed feel even more magazine-worthy.

You can alternate colors for seasons & throw in different textures.

Add lumbar pillows & mix up throw pillow sizes.

For these pillows you also want to size down the cover 2″ shorter than the insert for extra fluffiness!

7. Throw In a Throw

The icing on the cake to a fluffy bed is a super soft oversized throw at the end.

I just bought this blush one for our spring bedding swap & I want to carry it all over the house with me!

Chunky knit blankets also look great & make the bed extra plush.

Another option is to place a quilt at the end of the bed & drape a throw blanket on top of it.

Those are my favorite ways to make our bed feel extra fluffy & luxurious on a budget!

After long days of renovation & toddler wrangling its so nice to unwind in a bed that feels like it’s in a fancy hotel.

I do love a Hotel inspired bed. One thing I do not mentioned requires two sets of sheets but can be one set with an additional flat sheet. I put a fitted sheet on my box springs. After the fitted sheet on the mattress I add the flat sheet. Before tucking it in I put a blanket on and the other flat sheet. Tucking in all three then turning down the bedding before adding the duvet and pillows. It's more work but it's reward at the end of the day is worth every effort. The blanket or quilt between the sheets is not about warmth. For me it's about the weight and security it adds.
