A Quick Upgrade on These Side Tables
These side tables were given to me for a quick makeover. The owner had a black chest of drawers in their bedroom and wanted these side tables to match.
They were solid wood with glass tops. We agreed that I will paint them black and sand down the legs to raw wood.
I took off the legs and sanded them down with my orbital sander with sandpaper grit 120, 220,320
As for the body, I scuff sanded them with 220 grit, then applied 2 coats of primer.
Once the primer dried, I used several coats of valspar furniture and cabinet paint. I apply this paint with a microfiber roller and it gives me a really smooth finish I love.
I applied 3 coats of polycrilyc clear coat on the legs and it was all done!
Because the paint is cabinet paint and made for heavy traffic areas it doesn't require a clear coat! This is a quick and effective way to update an otherwise outdated piece of furniture.
