Antique Side Table Goes Grey

This antique side table has seen many years of use and really needed a makeover. It is a sweet size to fit in a living room and was soon picked out of my stock to be painted to go with the " fraternal twin french provincial tables" I recently posted here.

The first step was to remove the metal banding edge then scrub the rest up well.

The black laminate top required a coat of Fusion Mineral Paint ultra grip to assure good adherence. Then coal black was painted after it had dried 24 hours. When the top was good and dry, Homestead House ebony stain oil finish was applied to add durability and dimension.

The base was painted in Fusion Mineral paint little lamb again in two coats. when dry it was lightly distressed and black wax added.

The metal edging was spray painted in multiple coats of Rustoluem spray paint in soft flat iron; a soft metallic black that added just a wee bit of sparkle to the old girl. She is now ready for many more years of use in her new home with her big sisters. All the tables were painted the same colors and coordinate beautifully in their new home.

Great looking vintage table. Unique design for it's time. You did an exceptional job bringing her back to life.
