One of my favorite parts of refinishing furniture is transforming pieces that are out of style, old, or ugly into something new. Something to treasure for years to come.

My other favorite part is transforming pieces that are special to someone and creating new looks and styles that fit their home a little better. That's the case with this makeover. A sweet gal who has been one of my very best clients had a special set that needed a little love for her new nursery.

She wanted the same overall look, so we chose to paint the body in Antique White Milk Paint. It gave it a crisp clean look. The tops of these were laminate, and they were in good shape, so we left them as is. The tops matched the Antique White almost perfectly.

Before

If you have a laminate top that you don't like, you can paint over it with a little extra prep! My tutorial for painting laminate can be found on my blog post link for this project.

I distressed the edges back to the raw wood using 120 grit sandpaper. That gives just a hint of the shabby chic look as well as hides any future nicks or scratches.

To update the gold, I used Rub n' Buff in Antique Gold. I applied it in the stripes along the top of the dressers and on the hardware. *TIP: if you get a little Rub n' Buff where you don't want it, it comes right off with some mineral spirits*

Ready to be used and loved for another generation!
