We found this dresser by the side of the road. It had good bones so we took it home.
Two of the drawers were busted and not usable. I removed some of the braces inside and took the back off (which was cheap cardboard).
Inside shot of the drawer.
This is the backside of the dresser with cardboard removed.
Since we planned to use it on the porch (and live in Florida), I painted the inside with mold resistant primer.
Before painting it inside I measured and cut out what was going to be the floor. I used scrap plywood from previous projects.
Also used a scrap piece I had to seal off the back side. All the plywood was coated with the mold resistant primer.
Here the floor is in and painted.
Now the back side is painted and installed.
I took the front off of one of the other busted drawers and used it for a back splash. (The original metal handles on all the drawers were busted.) Took the busted handles off and put these antique knobs on that we had. Also put the knobs on the one working drawer. That drawer was also primer coated inside and out, except for the bottom inside.
Since this picture was taken we found a nice gray cat bed that fits wall to wall inside with the memory foam. Also installed the curtain rod. We are still searching the thrifts for a curtain. That pink metal vintage chair on the right is another future project. (The one on the left is done.) I still have a little outside finishing on the dresser I need to do. And some Old English. Hopefully I will remember to post an updated picture. : )
