Designer Bunny Williams said that every chair needs a "drinks table" where you can put a cup of tea or other beverage when you are sitting there. I realized that we had a chair in our family room that needed just that - a drinks table. Lucky for me, I found one when I was in a shop that was going out of business. They were also selling their display props, and that included a little round table that was very much in need of some love.

Despite the fact that it had lived a rough life, this table was the perfect size to put beside my chair. And the best part was that it was only $5.00. Yes, you read that right. It was solid and sturdy, but it needed some attention.

After sanding it, I used some flat black spray paint. It took two coats of paint to give the table good coverage.

My plan was to use a piece of wrapping paper that resembled burlap for the top. Then I would have a glass top cut at the glass shop for protection. After the paint was dry, I turned the table upside down on the paper and traced around it. Then I cut it out.

I put the round piece of glass on top, and the table was finished. It is so pretty. I am thrilled with the way it looks. The nice thing is that I can change the look just by adding a different choice of wrapping paper.

The table is the perfect size for a beverage. Right now I have it topped with some fresh flowers, a candle, and some matches, but they can easily be moved.

It fits perfectly in the space beside my chair. The total cost of this project was $27.00. I had the paper and the paint on hand and only had to pay for the table and the piece of glass. If you like this project, we have tons and tons of projects for you on our blog. Go to the link below.
