I found this dresser at our local thrift store and had some ideas of how I wanted it to look! It was the perfect style and needed a bit of work, but was definitely worth it!

Although it looks good in the picture, it really wasn’t. It had so many scratches and needed sanded all over.

This was inside the top drawer, but I’m putting a thick paper to line it.

This old rusted hardware is getting chucked! 😂

I took my palm sander to smooth out the scratches.

It had old sticky paper and needed to be removed.

This old hardware was definitely done!

The drawers and top were veneer and some of it was chipped so I filled it in with wood filler. Make sure you put enough, then smooth out with a putty knife. After it dries, use a sander on low or sand block to smooth it out.

i gave the drawers a light sand so that the paint would stick better.

Measure the inside of the drawers to get a good fit, then use spray adhesive to keep in place.

I am not going to clean my oven 😂 I am going to use it on this piece!

I removed all of the drawers and …

I sprayed the sides, legs and top around the edges with the oven spray!!! WHAT??? Yes! I’ve been dying to try this and guess what? It works!!! It removes all of the old stain and whatever else it has and brings it back to its natural wood color. After about 20 mins or longer, take the hose outside and water it down till the water runs clear! Only use on solid wood as compressed wood will mess up.

I used green sheen paint in a light gray for the rest of it and added these gorgeous ceramic knobs with a little bit of gold in them.

These are just perfect for this dresser.

Love this look!

It turned out exactly how I envisioned.

I used a coordinating paper to add more interest.

The drawers are just the perfect size and there’s a divider in the top one.

I’ll definitely be using this technique again and hopefully do a whole piece. Stay tuned!!

I love this look! So calm and fresh. A beautiful piece just in time for the holidays!

I found this paper in Marshall’s for only $2.99

It’s the perfect color!

Knobs are from Marshall's also!

I hope you’ve enjoyed this post and maybe you’ll try this technique.

Happy holidays!

Thanks for stopping by.
