I love when my creations come to life! I really wanted this piece to be natural, I tried sanding it down, but the wood had too much red in it, so I did the next best thing.

To start I took all of the hardware off.

I placed them in my sink, wet them, then poured barkeepers friend cleansing powder over them. I cleaned the dresser with Murphy’s oil soap to remove all dirt and grind.

You can find this at any supermarket or Home Depot.

After about 30 mins I took a nail brush and scrubbed them, rinsed, then dried them.

Once dry, I took a light sand block, then dusted off!

Meanwhile… I painted the hardware separately, then started on the drawers.

I used it the color, rustic taupe by behr paint. I was going for a natural, restoration hardware look!

I sanded the hardware to see if I liked it, but wasn’t loving the look so I decided to use a white wax to give it some depth.

It definitely looks amazing to me! I used a white wax from Jolie which is available on Amazon.

It has a lovely light smell and glides on smoothly.

After painting, lightly sand all over and dust off.

You can see a slight softness with the wax.

Do you see the difference?

once everything was painted, I lightly sanded, dusted, then rubbed Jolie white wax all over the dresser and drawers, then attached the hardware to finish.

I’m loving this fresh, natural, soft look!

The hardware is just perfect!

I hope this inspires you to create something beautiful! Have a great day!

So what sheen was the paint? Satin?

How much do you have to rub the wax in to get it smooth? It turned out beautifully.
