Always running out of storage space in your home? Closets packed to the brim? Start thinking about what you can do with your wall space. Ash and Eileen transformed a corner of space with DIY cubby storage shelves, mounted pegboard, and basic shelving for storage bins. The end result? Eileen emptied an entire closet by utilizing this wall space.

No more digging through messy drawers because all of her craft and desk supplies are organized on the pegboard. The cubby shelves are great storage for cardstock, fabric, bins of crafts supplies, and more. The basic shelves are the perfect size to fit four standard fabric storage bins – making for a total of 8 bins.

They share step-by-step instructions for mounting and installing pegboard, as well as full tutorials for building cubby storage and shelves – and free building plans. Ash details how he built each of the three items – including a few tricks he had up his sleeve for making the perfect cubby shelf.

For under $250 and one weekend of time, you could gain an entire closet too. Now we’re looking for more wall space to turn into storage.
Before picture - We emptied an entire closet of drawer organizers with our new storage.
After - Installed pegboard, basic shelves (that fit 8 standard storage bins), and cubby shelving
We built this cubby storage shelving using routed dados.
We painted it and mounted it to the wall.
We installed pegboard, mounting it the wall and creating a corner of space with the pegboard.
We added basic shelving that would fit four storage bins on each shelf.
An entire closet emptied!
