Fab Furniture Flipping Contest Country Chic Paint "Bling Bling"

This is my latest project for the Fab Flippin' Furniture Contest for the month of May! The sponsor this month was the wonderful Country Chic Paint! The theme was "Bling Bling" using one of their lovely metallic cream paints.I chose a cute little French provincial nightstand as my project and used a delicious color called Vintage Cupcake and the metallic cream was Belt Buckle. I decided to add a little French Shabby vibe to this piece, so I added some french typography and some decoupaged flowers and roses to give a really girly touch.
This was the before. I cleaned the piece thoroughly with TSP which you can find in any hardware store. I then sanded it lightly.
These are the two colors I used for the project....Vintage Cupcake and metallic cream in Belt Buckle.
This was after the first coat of paint. You really have to stir this paint very well, but after that, the paint went on beautifully.
This is after 2-3 coats and some distressing to the edges with a sanding sponge. I also sanded the rest of the piece and it was soooo smooth, like butter!
This is a closeup of the side of the nightstand where I dry brushed the Belt Buckle color. I used a very small amount on the brush and dragged it very lightly across the piece.
Here I did the same thing, I also used the metallic cream paint to paint the hardware.
I used some images from the Graphics Fairy website to use for decoupage. I lined the drawer with some black and white toile fabric I had lying around. I just used some spray adhesive to attach it to the inside of the drawer.
As you can see here, I also used the metallic cream to outline the top trim of the nightstand. It really looks amazing with the pink!
This is a detail of the hand painting I did on the top of the piece. I used carbon paper underneath the typography and outlined the lettering. Then, I went back in and filled in with black acrylic paint. I used a sanding sponge to distress the lettering a bit to make it look aged.
These pretty images of roses are decoupaged on with Mod Podge which you can find at any craft store. I applied it to the backs and smoothed them out so they had no bubbles. I let them dry overnight and when everything was done I used a matte sealer to protect the whole top.
I also painted a mirror in the same color to match the nightstand, and dry brushed the Belt Buckle color over it as well. I distressed the edges of the mirror as well.
I also decoupaged another image inside to give it a little more vintage shabby feel. I think I achieved it! If you'd like to get more info on how I did this, visit my website: www.wildsparrowdesigns.com.
