Ferris Wheel Decoupage Dresser
I had this petite French provincial chest and I decided it was time to try something fun and new and decoupage a tissue paper on the front.
I removed the ornate piece on the top drawer, then cleaned and primed.
This paper is by Mint by Michelle. This one is a Ferris wheel.
I painted the dresser a turquoise by Annie Sloan chalk paint called Florence.
The paper comes with very easy directions.
I removed all the drawers from the dresser as this would make it easier.
I used two coats of a medium on the drawers, letting each coat dry in between. I used a varnish but you can use modge podge as well.
I started with the top drawer lining up my pattern. Once it’s placed where you want you then place parchment paper over it before the next step which is ironing over the entire drawer. This releases the medium and the tissue paper will adhere. I used a medium heat setting and kept moving it around not sitting in one spot too long.
I then used a razor blade to cut off the edge at the bottom so I could start the second drawer, repeating that same process on all four drawers so my pattern lines up.
I sprayed the hardware a shiny metallic gold and distressed the paint to reveal white throughout the piece for a weathered look.
Lastly I sealed with a varnish.
And there she is in all her whimsical glory.
