I was helping a friend move and noticed her neighbors were in the process of moving also. I noticed this cute table in their pile near the road waiting on the garbage man. I had to save her she wasnt broken anywhere only missing her top and needed a good cleaning. I went and grabbed her and sat her in my friends yard until we had finished moving her things out.
Brought the table home cleaned her up good and sanded a little bit with 220 sandpaper. I used some homemade chalk paint in cream color and brown on the drawer front. Then I cut some old fencing for a new top. Stained the fencing and nailed it to the table top. I fell in love.
i then used my java glaze and wiped her down lightly and then wiped again with a damp rag. She turned out just how I visioned.
i cleaned up her orignail hardware with lemon juice and she's good to go.
She sold almost immediately I wished there had been a set of them. But hey it was free and I can't complain.

I just realized this is the answer to a small 'piano bench' that had an upholstered top. I have tried to recover it several times but never liked how it turned out. It has been in my garage for years. Now I will use a furniture refinisher to smooth out the scratches, then make a table top for it. When I get the top on, I will decide what to do to it, match the base, paint?

Really surprised this was tossed out, especially if the draw works -- or does the draw not work and is it 'just for looks' ?
