Today I am going to transform and old school desk into a beach table using Unicorn Spit and GlazeCoat! I found the desk a few years ago, at the curb. The folks at Ecclectic Products sponsored this project and I thought it was finally time to tackle the desk makeover! | desk makeover | furniture makeover | redo | furniture redo | desk redo | home decor | furniture makeover diy | diy |

The desk was mostly stable, but worn. It was time for a refresher!

I started by stripping the desk and then cleaning it with some acetone, to make sure no film was left on the wood.

The inside of the desk had ink stains, so I had to prime it.

I used the Unicorn Spit to stain the top of the desk. I wiped off any excess.

Once the primer had dried, I used the teal to give the inside of the desk a pop of color.

I used the white on the outside of the desk and wiped off the excess.

When it dried, I felt the yellow of the wood was bleeding through, more than I wanted. To cure that, I used the white and gray to cut down the yellow.

I put the Glaze Coat onto the top of the desk. I wanted that to have a durable and shiny finish. I made sure to spread out the glaze coat. Then, I popped the bubbles with my torch. I love how Glaze Coat makes the wood grain pop. I let it dry a minimum of 12 hours before handling it.

I added a vase in the hole for the inkwell.

It has a beach/coastal look to it.

I love the pop of color on the inside.

Remember how it looked before?

I hope you like it! You can find more info, more pictures, the video and materials list at my original blogpost: https://craftklatchwithmona.blogspot.com/2019/05/garbage-to-gorgeous-episode-24-desk.html
