Headboard Bench With Storage Shelf

I painted my latest bench Naval. I love the added shelf on the bottom.
I used the headboard for the back, and the foot board (cut off) for the front legs.
I added a seat and a shelf.

LOVE the bench! I was given a full-size headboard (no footboard) and would love to make a bench. How would one go about making one with no footboard? Have you done one like that that you could point me to?
