I picked up this mid century modern dresser on my local Facebook marketplace. I knew it has been refinished by the previous owner, but when I picked it up you could still smell the paint... anyway I knew I would sand it back down and create a design/color combo that is much more modern.

Before

The details on the drawers were really cool and I was going to sand them back down to bare wood but when I touched them they kept popping off. I figured it was a blessing in disguise as it was much easier to sand them.

Drawers all sanded down.

I sanded down the many layers of paint on the drawers with my electric sander sand paper grit 120 220 320. There was no veneer there so I decided to go with a white wash. Which is watered down white paint

You apply it with a brush then wipe it down.

I used wood glue and clamps to secure the wood detailing on the front drawers. I also applied some screws on the inside of the drawers to tighten it even stronger to the drawers.

I scuff sanded the body of the dresser with 120 grit sandpaper and applied valspar furniture and cabinet paint with a foam roller.

Once the drawers were dry after white washing I applied a polycrilyc clear coat and it was time to stage and post for sale.
