A New Look for an Old Headboard

I have finally finished painting the furniture in my house in light lovely colors. My last project was to redo this old headboard. I didn't just want it painted I wanted it padded as well, comfort is what I was looking for. So this is what I came up with.
I bought this head board about 10 years ago from a tag store. It is solid wood and had a very nice finish on it but when I moved into my new little nest it just didn't seem to fit.
I sanded down the head board then used an ivory chalk paint. The distressed it some. I made two padded pieces then glued them in place. This have the head board a real comfy feel.
I love to read in bed before I go to sleep at night so the padded covered boards was perfect. I hung a reading light above it.
Here is a picture that show a little more detail. It has lots of chippy charm which I love.
I'm thinking that this head board needs some new bedding. Maybe a pretty lace quilt.
With the new color of the headboard and the lovely fluffy lace pillows the bed looks very inviting.
