Painting Faux Wood Furniture

6 Materials

I was looking to reuse some old nightstands to refresh my bedroom on a diy budget! Here is the simple solution I came up with.

Here is what I used. Fusion supplied me with Mineral Paint in the color Casement, a jar of Antiquing Wax in the color Espresso and some Tough Coat in a Matte finish. I also used a paint brush, cheap dollar store paint brush and a white rag.

Here is my old nightstand. Bought this at Target 15+ years ago and no longer loved the dark finish. No prep needed with Fusion Mineral Paint so let’s go!

Step one was one careful coat of Fusion Mineral Paint in the color Casement, their version of bright white.

Next I used a cheap dollar store brush with thick bristles and dabbed it very lightly into the small jar of Antiquing Wax in Espresso. I had to transfer some to a paper plate once I got too far down into jar and my brush wouldn’t fit. Then dry brush the was back and forth onto your furniture piece until you get the desired finish.

I spray painted my knob black and added it back on. One nightstand took me about an hour because of the fast dry time of the Mineral Paint and Wax.

After a 12 hour full cure time I rubbed on Fusion Tough Coat with a clean white rag and they are done! Happy with a beautiful update with a small price tag!
