Repurposed Table

This may sound ridiculous to some of you. I have always wanted a round coffee table. I have not been able to find one I can afford and always miss out on them at thrift stores or Facebook marketplace. So what is a person to do but make one, the only problem is the base. It needed to be a pedestal base. Not easy to make. But as me and my grandson were driving somewhere there was a pedestal end table beside the road for free, I told him if its there on the way back we will grab it! he is my thrifting buddy, he loves a good yard sale and thrift stores. It was there so he jumped out and put it in the back of the vehicle for me. Now I have my pedestal! I could have made the round for the top by gluing pieces together and then cutting the round out of that. But my lumber yard had one all done, so I bought the 30" round for the top.

Here is the end table it was square and very chunky and way too high as is.

We took the top off and cut down the pedestal part to coffee table height.

We sanded the cut part real good with an electric sander so it was even on the top. You don't want an uneven coffee table top.

I am dry fitting it here.

I tried the Easy Off method to strip the base down to raw wood. it did not work for me. So I decided too paint the base and leave the top raw. I applied a matte sealer to make dusting easier.

I painted the base white.

Putting a One by on it to screw the round top to.

All done, isn't she pretty?

It never ceases to amaze me that there are people who literally look for something to criticize on this site.

Whether it was repurposed or upcycled is irrelevant... isn't it basically all the same??

Good grief, if you have nothing nice to say, don't say anything at all. 🙄

I think she did a great job, it looks beautiful!
