From Curbside Pitiful to Farmhouse Beautiful! (Before & After)

I can't help myself. When I see a piece of furniture abandoned on the side of the road, and can see that it still has a ton of potential, I have to rescue it. Such is the case with a sad-looking bedside table my neighbor had placed in the garbage pile on her curb. Hop over to my blog to read how I came to "rescue" this piece.
It started out forlorn and sad...sitting on the curb with the bags of trash.
It was rough.
Like "you've gone and lost your mind if you think you can save this" rough.
But, I loved the little glass knobs... and the twisted rope detail at the top.
So after a good cleaning and a very light sanding, I base coated it with Sherwin Williams Brave Blue. (very fitting huh?) The two drawers recieved a fresh coat of Pure White.
Then with some glaze mixed with stain....I antiqued the whole thing, to include the white-painted drawer front.
To create a "farmhouse" top, I cut, stained, and "whacked" boards with a hammer and a screwdriver to age the wood. The boards were stained and then attached to the top of the table, right over the damaged top.
The original knobs and handle were placed back on... and what once sat abandoned and destined for the dump - received a new life destined for a Farmhouse Style Bedroom.
Here is the Before & After....
Would you know its the same table, accept for the hardware?
The glass knobs looks so much better with the antique finish.
I can't wait to see what my neighbor disposes of next? :-D
