Funky Locker
So we had this locker in the shed & we decided to paint it in French eggshell from fusion mineral paint - I thought it was going to be more green than blue but anyway!!
i added metallic rose gold details to lift the colour!
Before
Using filler to fill any holes 🕳
All filled
First coat - Hubby did the first coat and painted every inch of the drawers I wouldn’t always paint the back of the drawers
Second coat!
you can see how blue it is in this picture
Then the fun bit begins - frog tape and my metallic paint!!!!
I just picked random shapes for the drawers
I did the 3 of them in different designs
How pretty is this colour!!!!
I did 2 coats of this!
Also I am a Nail technician by day upcycler by night haha - so using my dotting tool for nails I used it for a polka dot effect on the handles!!!
as we chose a polka dot wall paper for the drawers
How satisfying is the removal of tape?????
Size & cut the wallpaper & glue the wall paper to the bottom of the drawer
Glued down - I videoed taking off the frog tape but I’m unsure if it will upload!!
I love these videos of taking off the frog tape!!!!
Using the same rose gold I painted the legs
And we decided to paper the back of it too.
And these she is finished
Finished piece!!!

So many creative ideas with items you likely have on hand. I have several metallic paints in my artist cabinet and you've inspired me to try this with painter's tape! Thanks for the share!

Frequently asked questions
Have a question about this project?
What was wrong with the natural finish? It looked fine in the picture.
I always have trouble with paint bleeding under the frog tape, thus creating a less than clean line. Any ideas on what I am not doing right or suggestions of hacks to prevent this? Thanks! Oh, and I think a decision to paint something is purely personal. I have an old Hoosier that I never would have painted but am now considering doing just that! Also have used the chalk paint products and don’t feel the final wax coat is very good so I skip that on the top and use a coat of Urethane-that never allows water spots!
