Look for furniture with great shape, lines and construction. Then make it your own!
This little table was just what I was looking for to use as a bedside table. You don't have to have conventional nightstands any more - try envisioning other types of furniture being used in different parts of the house. Typically this would have been found in a living room but with a fresh look, it becomes a lovely bedroom accent piece.
Look closely at the details of the piece. Are there parts that you can accent to make them really stand out? In this case, the edge of the table top and the base had some details that now really pop with an accent of dusty rose chalk paint. Chalk paint is the best! As you can see, this table had a high gloss finish to it but still, no sanding required! All I did was brush on a few coats of chalk paint, sanded and distressed.
A few light coats of chalk paint, some distressing and a coat of wax transformed this piece. Using a small brush, I accented the edge of the table with the dusty rose as well. But there was a problem . . . do you see it? That crack wasn't really visible until I painted this piece.
No worries - it's an easy fix. I simply applied a brace on the underside of the table to stabilize the crack. I used a little bit of wood putty to fill in the gap on the top, sanded and touched up with chalk paint and wax.
And here you have it. A beautiful side table that went from living room to bedroom with just a few, simple steps.

At first, I wasn't sure, but I LOVE it. That scarf does something for it......remember, that pink is the answer to make it pop.!!!
