This is my FAVORITE before and after project of 2020!! Let me share how I took a forlorn little legless dresser and gave it a spectacular makeover.
Stenciled Dresser Extreme Makeover!!
When I saw this sweet little dresser I saw what she could be not what she was: a legless sticker covered piece with all the original hardware missing.
There was no chance of finding replacement legs to fit the original holes so they were filled in with DAP wood pro wood filler. And lots of it. The hardware holes were filled too as replacing them with original was futile.
New legs and brackets were installed with the help of my handy shop fellow.
The entire dresser was sanded smooth and scrubbed clean ready to paint.
The wood filler areas were touched up with stain to keep the stripped and stained finish consistent.
I wanted to add some drama and character. I chose to stencil the drawers using a Cutting Edge Indian inlay stencil set and Fusion Mineral Paint in chocolate. The large surfaces were rolled on using the Cutting Edge roller set.
I also used the roller and chocolate paint on the dresser top and front edges to tie the color thru the whole dresser.
For the small areas I used the small stencil brush.
New holes were drilled for knobs to be positioned in the proper spots.
And here are the knobs in place. The brushed satin nickel compliments the leg caps and adds a bit of sparkle.
Everything was dark waxed to add a nice sheen and this cutie is complete. The detailed tutorial of this project is linked at the bottom of this post. Pop over to my blog to see it and more one of a kind pieces. Be sure to sign up for my FREE emailed tutorial subscription.
