This beauty was headed for the landfill. I saw huge potential for a little girls dressing room/vanity.
Before we all start again about how "beautiful" this piece was before hear me out. IT WAS GARBAGE. It is plastic and clapboard. It was falling apart with no back. The owners were getting ready to sledge hammer it and put it in the dumpster. I am helping a family who are down on their luck turn a house into a "HOME". The daughter needed a pick me up and this was just the answer. She loves mermaids. So I made her a Mermaid's Closet/Vanity.
There was so much detail to the doors it was a shame to see it go to the dumpster. If I wasn't able to save the whole piece I would have at the very least up-purpsed these doors.
I see a bunch of little "faux" jewelry drawers.
So I added petite crystal knobs to each individual drawer.
Look how the detail pops using Coastal Colors Paint.... "Just Peachy" and " Calm". Heavy distressed
A mermaid on top guards her treasures.
So much room on the inside for a "mermaid's treasures". I could just see a little mermaid getting dressed here.
VIOLA! A mermaids dressing area. Hooks for jewels, mirror, and drawers for scarves, hair ties, brushes, socks etc.
I painted vintage looking hooks for one side of the Mermaids Closet where she hangs all her jewels and accessories
Added a mirror on the right door.
I attached the mirror with scrolled knobs from Hobby Lobby ... upside down. They made a nice accent to the bring the scroll work inside the Closet.
A little more fun... I added a mermaid cut out and a seahorse hook on the back wall. I found her mermaid figures to hang all her accessories on. King Neptune looks on.
