Affordable Apartment Bedroom Transformation for a Boy and Girl
I worked with a single mom to get a bedroom organized and transformed for her son and sometimes her daughter when she was back from college. Here is what we did.
This is the before picture of the bedroom that will be shared with a college student when she is home and her younger brother when she is not.
We created this from scratch. The scarf holder was great for necklaces too. Visit the detail post on how we made this in my profile on HomeTalk or on our website here.
This was what the headboard looked like before we added the wallpaper to the inlays.
We peeled off the back and laid the wallpaper about 1 inch larger than the inlay area. Then we pressed from the center out and used an Exacto knife to cut off the excess around the edges.
Since this white nightstand was turning yellow, we decided to use the wallpaper here too.
We added the self-adhesive wallpaper to the front of the dresser to help it look new since it could not be replaced at that time.
We added a different inside liner paper that was also self stick.
We used contact paper to dress up the dresser and found lots of items at Ikea in their last chance section. The shelf and the desk were found there. The artwork and picture frames were found at Marshall's in the clearance section.
Here is the after picture! Don't you love it. The boys version has baseball on the pillows and blanket.
This is the girls room. I made it reversible to customize them for the person who will be sleeping in the room. Visit our other ways we used self-adhesive wallpaper.
