Croco Look

I found this antique cutlery cabinet at an auction and immediately knew it would make an excellent jewelry cabinet.
This is what it looked like when I brought it home. After sanding and cleaning,....
I wanted to give it a new look. With wood icing and a stencil (small!!!) I created this croco look.
Repeated the stencil work on top of the lid and front of the two drawers. The rest would remain wood.
When dry, I painted the whole surface beige.
and then worked with waxes: brown, some dark green, gold and bitumen
Varnished the wooden areas and this is what it finally looked like from the outside.
For the inside, I wanted to create divisions, an organizer. Worked with cardboard (3mm), and papers on it.
The most important detail for this is the exact measure! Glued my cardboard bands on bottom and continued with perpendicular ones.
And this is what it looked like from the inside. I also had a mirror cut and glued it to the interior lid.
My jewelry cabinet finished!

Ginger the farm gal on Aug 07, 2018
Inspired, I have had a smaller but similar box that needs to be brought out and transformed, finally an idea that fits the bill, to remember and honor my Aunt Sallies. She only got this out for special occasions. It time to give it new life and shine as you would say. I use the silver every day, why keep beautiful things for only special days, isn't everyday special and a gift from God? Love the crock idea, but will stick to farm decor. Something to study and contemplate for me. I am thinking sunflowers. So happy and blessed to find you and your projects, following for sure! Thank you for sharing your work and especially for getting the creative juices flowing, you're so blessed with talent.
