DIY Dollar Store Update to Pretty Organization for Some Jewelry

I have been working on several projects to update our Master Bedroom and in looking the room over I thought my dresser just had too much stuff on the surface. So I removed some of the jewelry display pieces and designated some space in one of my dresser drawers, but I wanted something to organize the jewelry.

I wanted something kind of compact and chose to try to update some signs that I picked up at the dollar store.

I used some sandpaper to get rid of the excess glitter so I would have a smooth surface for paint, and I chose a pretty aqua color.

I painted the back as well as the edges/sides. I didn't paint what will be the interior portion as it will be covered in the end.

Then I got a measurement from the 'interior' so I knew what size I wanted to cut my paper.

I chose to use cardstock and roll it up into a paper tube and this sign will eventually become a ring holder.

After I had my paper tube rolled up, I secured the ends with hot glue, and then I chose to wrap each paper tube with a light grey felt and set it aside.

It took 7 paper tubes to fit into my sign, and I simply hot glued them in place with the seam side down.

For the second sign I simply cut a piece of felt to fit inside.

I wanted this one to hold a variety of items.

I also found that I can easily stack them which will come in handy in my drawer and save even more space.

I am loving how these turned out! Super easy on the budget, functional, and I think they are so pretty!

How is the rolled paper working so far? When you put a ring back in, is it crushing the paper? I really like this idea, I’m wondering how well the paper will hold its shape.
