DIY Jewelry Storage

I needed hidden jewelry storage. Something I would know was there but no one else (my daughter in particular)would know about. I couldn’t find anything I liked so I decided to DIY my own jewelry storage.
I decided to mount a canvas to the wall using a piano hinge. It was super easy and super quick.
Supplies: canvas in your desired size
piano hinge
screws
cup hooks
drill
measuring tape
level
pencil
This is what the back of your canvas should look like. The wood frame is the perfect depth to accommodate cup hooks and necklaces.
Once the canvas is attached to the wall, it should open and close easily. Next, you would add the cup hooks.
As long as you don’t mind a bunch of tiny holes in your wall, you could screw them directly into the wall. Your other option is to screw the cup hooks into thin strips of wood like lattice or shims. Then you would attach the strips of wood with a screw on each end.
If you live in a rental, you could try Command Hooks and avoid holes in your walls altogether.

Great idea: I'm going to do this for my daughter. She has a toddler who loves to play with mom's jewelry. This should keep it out of her reach! You could put it behind a picture frame, too, as long as you don't mind a piano hinge on one side.
