Dumpster Dive Upcycle
My sweet HUSBAND, sorry y’all, I still love saying that... haha... was at a worksite and there was a dumpster full of windows! And what did he do? He brought some of them home!! A half dozen of them, all different sizes and finishes. I saw this cutie and knew exactly what I would do with it!
For this project I used:
- small window frame, my was 2 panes
- palm sander
- torch
- sawtooth hangers
- robe hooks
- optional- vinyl cutter and vinyl
I started by removing the remaining paint, this window was in really good shape and I wanted to finish the wood the same way I finished my shelves in my last tutorial, with the torch! So I used a heavy grit sandpaper and removed the paint using my orbital sander, then finished it off with a fine grit to make it nice and smooth
I opted to leave the white paint on the inside edges of the panes, it will make it stand out more on the dark grey wall of my bathroom and I plan on using my Cricut to cut some cute sayings out of white vinyl to put on the window panes to finish it off!
After I burnt the wood of the frame, I decided it needed a little something else. I used a scrap 1x3 piece of lumber to add a ledge to the top and about 2 inches up from bottom of window to make little ledges, I also added some hooks to the bottom for additional storage! And finished it off by adding some vinyl decals!
I did my favorite thing, and shopped my house to decorate this cutie! The little ledges are perfect for some plant clippings in little bottles, cologne and my hubby’s near oils always come in pretty neat looking little containers so those made it up there too! The hooks have me a spot to hang jewelry I wear on the norm and a hand towel!
The wall you stare at when you look into the bathroom looked bare, and since I already had the supplies out I finished off this cutie to untangle all my costume type Jewlry! The numbers are just to make it stand out off the wall and tie it into the other one on the adjacent wall with a small white touch!
Perfect uses of verticals space in my small master bathroom! And keeps everything off the counter! So in love with these little prettiest! Thanks for hanging out with me!
